Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Where is my beloved Cappuccino Peanut Butter, White Chocolate Walnut Butter, Salted Butterscotch Almond Butter, etc?!
A: Well, our Cappuccino PB we recently decided to replace with the (even better!) Wild Espresso Peanut Butter. It's made with Backyard Beans coffee (our good buddies), cinnamon, cocoa, and espresso powder and honestly trust us, you won't be disappointed! The White Chocolate Walnut I am sorry to say we discontinued from our regular lineup, however we WILL still be making from time to time as limited edition "Batch Drops," we like to call them. Same with the Salted Butterscotch Almond Butter, Smokehouse Almond Butter, and others. Get in the know on our Batch Drops though because once they're gone, they're gone!
Q: Tell me more about these "Batch Drops" as you call them...
A: Gladly! So here's what's up. We're a small company with limited space, limited people and limited resources. The regular lineup keeps us HOPPIN' as it is, but we love to get creative when we can. This is why about once a month we run limited release items and we only make a few batches. If these are items that you're interested in we highly recommend stocking up when they're available! It may be 6 months or more until you see them again!
Q: How do I get in the know about your batch drops and the other unbelievably amazing things you're all doing?
A: Subscribe to our email list! You can do so right at the bottom of our home page, here. And don't worry, you're not gonna be hearing from us a ton; we can't stand those companies... You might get an email a week from us at most.
Q: Does your stuff need to be refrigerated?
A: No! You can refrigerate if you want to minimize the oil separation, but it's not necessary.
Q: Is your stuff gluten-free?
A: Yes! All our nut butters are gluten-free, we are working towards the certification.
Q: Is your peanut butter safe for dogs?
A: Our Pure Peanut Butter is 100% peanuts, no xylitol, no nothin'! In fact it's what we sell in bulk form to a lot of local dog treat producers in our area.
Q: I'm interested in larger quantities for my store, cafe, bakery, farm, etc. Do you all sell wholesale?
A: Yes! Check out our Wholesale Website for more info!
Q: How much is shipping?
A: It's free if your order is $49 or more. Below that it is a $10 charge. You can also find us on Amazon Prime. Full disclosure, they are a little higher priced on Amazon, but shipping there is free for any amount.
Q: When will my order ship?
A: We ship every business day. Over 90% ship next day or even same day!
Q: Do you ship internationally?
A: No, US addresses only.
Q: Should I be concerned about product temperatures in transit?
A: No, in 12 years of shipping our nut butters we've never had an issue related to temperature. With our product being all natural, please note that it will separate more quickly in warmer temperatures and firm up more quickly in cold temperatures.
Q: How does Popcorn Works pickup work?
A: You can pick up any sized order for free at our facility in Telford PA (336 W Broad St, where we share space with Popcorn Works). Orders are usually ready within 1 business day, and we will send a confirmation email/text when it's ready to pickup. When you get to the counter at Popcorn Works, just let us know the name you ordered under and we'll hand it over.
Q: How does event pickup work?
A: This one's a little tricky just because certain items (especially custom items) aren't available at our events, and also we need you to leave us a note or send us an email stating which event you'd like to pick up from. But other than that it's free for any amount and a great way to breeze through that farmers' market!
Q: Can I make my own sampler?
A: Yes! Order a Custom Sampler! Be sure to leave us a note as to which varieties you'd like. https://www.nuttynovelties.com/collections/nut-butters/products/custom-sampler-1
Q: Why is there oil on the top?
A: They're all natural nut butters. Oil separation is natural. The oil can be swirled in (recommended), poured off, and you can refrigerate to keep the separation to a minimum going forward.
Q: What are these white spots on my Chocolate Peanut Butter? It's mold isn't it?!?
A: No, thankfully it is just what's called chocolate "bloom" and it is harmless and you can learn more about it here: https://www.bonappetit.com/story/what-is-chocolate-bloom
Q: What's the difference between Pure and Classic PB?
A: Just salt. Pure is unsalted, Classic is lightly salted (about half the salt of other brands), and we make both in a Crunchy version as well.
Q: Are tree nuts and peanuts processed on the same equipment?
A: No! Everything is made in a shared facility, but tree nut butters are not made on the same equipment as any peanut butters; in fact they are made on two separate sides of the building! Our tree nuts (almonds, cashews, pistachios, walnuts, etc), however, are processed on the same equipment together.
Q: Is your product made on any shared equipment with Popcorn Works products?
A: No! We share a building but do not cross paths with them in production.
Q: What is the shelf life of your products?
A: Our nut butters are dated 9 months from date of production. We always aim to ship the freshest product possible!
Q: Where do your nuts come from?
A: Our peanuts are grown in Edenton, NC. Our almonds, pistachios and walnuts are from California, and our cashews are from a fair-trade farm in Brazil. (Cashews don't grow in the US at all. They require tropical climates.)
Q: Are your products certified Kosher?
A: Yes! All of our nut butters were recently certified Kosher by Rabbis Goldberg and Heinemann of Star K in Baltimore. The Star K symbol is not yet shown on our labels, however, but will be in 2025.
Q: Why are some of your products not vegan?
A: We wish they all could be, too. There is a dairy product in the butterscotch, cinnamon and white chocolate drops that we use, and honey is also considered an animal product by most vegans. Our products that ARE vegan are: Pure PB, Pure Crunchy PB, Classic PB, Classic Crunchy PB, Organic PB, Chocolate PB, Almond Butter, Dark Chocolate Almond, Cashew Butter, and Pistachio Butter. We even have a Vegan Sampler!
Q: What's your best seller?
A: Good old Classic Peanut Butter is our best seller by FAR. We make 18 different nut butters, and Classic PB is almost 50% of our whole business.
Q: What if there's a mistake in my order?
A: Just let us know. Email customerservice@nuttynovelties.com and we'll make it right. Photos are helpful if applicable. We pack all our online orders by hand and apologies in advance that we aren't QUITE perfect!
Q: Your free shipping threshold used to be $39 and now it's $49 and you used to give 20% coupons in orders and now they're only 10%. Have you guys gotten greedy?
A: Well, no. In July of 2024 we had to make these tough decisions to maintain our healthy business. It's tough out there guys!
Q: I love this stuff. How can I get more?
A: This is our favorite question. Check out the Retailers tab above and enter your zip code (we are mostly in and around Philly), or check out our Events Schedule, or, shop right here!
Still have a question? Use that Contact Form at the top right. We'll get back to you as soon as we can. We're glad you're here!
