You ever buy a tub of cookie dough from the store and eat it with a spoon? Don't worry— we won't tell anybody. If you're one of those strong-willed people that hasn't, think back to the last time you made cookies at home. Did you lick some batter off of the spoon you were using? (If you didn't, you were doing something wrong). Everybody loves cookie dough because its sweetness and creaminess is absolutely addictive. In fact, people love cookie dough so much that there are even businesses that sell it like an ice cream shop! (Check out Baked if you're near West Chester, PA)! Now why is cookie dough so delicious? In our opinion, it has something to do with straight sugar and butter. In true Nutty Novelties fashion, we wanted to eat cookie dough with some redeemable qualities. That's how we came up with these No Bake Cookie Dough Bars! Nutty Novelties Cashew Butter is rich, salty, and creamy. A little oat or almond flour gives a chewy texture, maple syrup gives an earthy sweetness, and chocolate…need I say more? Give this stuff a try when you're looking to sneak something sweet but not too bad for you!

]]>To make them, we start by using a double boiler to melt the chocolate and coconut oil. Double boilers are a simple, two-part piece of cooking equipment perfect for achieving very gentle, delicate cooking. The first part is a small, ordinary saucepan. The second part is a smaller pan with a rounded bottom that fits on top of the saucepan. To use it, place some water in the saucepan and boil it. Then, sit the rounded pan on top of the saucepan. (NOTE: The pan on top should fit snuggly on top of the smaller pan. Also, make sure the boiling water doesn’t touch the bottom of the top pan. If the water touches the rounded pan, the chocolate inside of it could burn). The key is to let the steam from the boiling water hit the bottom of the bowl, creating a controlled and gentle cooking environment. If you don’t have a pan for double boiling, a simple glass or metal bowl that fits safely and snuggly atop a saucepan works perfectly. Melting chocolate in this way gives it a luxurious texture and a beautiful sheen when it cools.

]]>The SpaceX launch of the Falcon 9 rocket has everyone at Nutty Novelties going absolutely nutty. SpaceSpaceX’s innovative exploration of the technological frontier is helping mankind hone in on a thorough exploration of the final frontier. The innovative Falcon 9 is a partially-reusable rocket. Its reusability eliminates a great deal of expense that have traditionally accompanied space exploration and travel. According to SpaceX, this rocket will serve as the final in a long series of tests that will “return human spaceflight to the United States.” With this test, SpaceX hopes to receive certification from NASA for “operational crew missions to and from the International Space Station.”
One thing that’s for sure is astronauts have to eat. They like making sandwiches, but normal bread would create crumbs that float around the rocket and ISS in the zero-gravity environment. To avoid that problem, they like to use tortillas. Favorites for their tortilla are peanut butter and applesauce, both of which are foods that can undergo transportation to space.
In honor of this launch, the team at Nutty Novelties used those flavors to inspire our SpaceX-Inspired Apple Almond Butter Wraps. Eat like an astronaut after he or she safely returns to Earth! We cook down sliced apples with a splash of maple syrup until they’re warm, gooey, and delicious. Then we spread some delicious, all natural Nutty Novelties Almond Butter on a tortilla, top it with the apples, and roll! After a quick trip to the sun’s core (or an oven, for most people) the inside is warm and melty, the outside is crispy, and the whole thing is delicious. This recipe yields two servings. We hope you like it!
